I’m not trying to live a perfect, zero-waste life. I just believe in making better choices where I can.
Some of those choices happen on the farm—recycling, composting, raising our own meat, and growing more of our own food each year. Others happen inside the house by paying a little more attention to the products we use every day and the waste we create.
One example? My family drinks a ridiculous amount of diet soda—about a two-liter a day between us. Instead of hauling home bottle after bottle every week, we make it at home with our SodaStream. We still enjoy the same soda, but with a fraction of the plastic waste.
That got me thinking about other everyday products. If I could make one simple change that reduced waste, what else could I do?
Cleaning products were the harder one to solve.
For a while, I tried making my own cleaners with vinegar, baking soda, and all the other Pinterest favorites. They worked… okay. Mediocre, honestly. They got the job done, but they never really felt like they solved the problem.

That was it.
