I’m not chasing the road the way I once did.
I’m still figuring out how to hold onto both —
the life that needs me every day, and the itch to see what’s over the next hill.
I have always been consumed by wanderlust.
Long before this website existed, I was already chasing it — road trips, marathons in cities I’d never seen, and an RV that has taken me farther than I ever expected it to. I wrote about it once, back when the list of places I wanted to see felt endless and the road was always calling.
These days, the calling is a little more complicated.
Today, we have a home, a farm, animals that need us every day, and a life that Chris and I are building together. That doesn’t mean the exploring stopped. It just means adventure looks a little different now.
I can’t always just point the RV toward the horizon and see where the road takes us.
Sometimes adventure is a longer RV trip. Sometimes it is exploring back roads in the Jeep, finding a new hiking trail, casting a line in a quiet stream, or discovering a place we never would have found if we had stayed home.
The pace has changed. The budget has changed. And life has changed.
But the curiosity never left.
So this is where I keep figuring it out.
The road trips that still happen, even if there are fewer of them. The RV breakdowns that somehow always become part of the story anyway. The trips home to see family, the unexpected detours, and the places we never planned to stop but ended up loving.
I’m not trying to travel exactly like I used to.
I’m just finding new ways to keep exploring.
