Finding Joy Close to Home

Sunset over the lake

After a few weeks of traveling, August was a little quieter.

No big road trips.

No long stretches of highway.

Just time at home, enjoying the things that make everyday life good.

And honestly, it was exactly what I needed.

Back in the Kitchen

One thing I realized after all the traveling is how much I enjoy being home and creating things in my own kitchen.

This month included some experimenting — making homemade ice cream, trying out the pasta maker, and continuing to prep food ahead for the week.

There is something satisfying about making things yourself. Not because you have to but because you can.

Summer Outside

Even without a big trip planned, there were still plenty of reasons to get outside.

There was kayaking with friends, quiet time on the water, and some beautiful sunsets that reminded me why I love being outdoors so much.

The best adventures don’t always require a destination. Sometimes they are just a friend, a kayak, and a few hours on the water.

Good Friends and Good Times

There was also time spent with my bowling friends — including a pool day that was exactly the kind of simple summer fun that makes good memories.

After weeks of traveling and exploring, it felt good to slow down and enjoy some simple summer moments close to home.

Holding Onto the Past While Building the Future

One of the projects I worked on this month wasn’t about creating something new — it was about preserving things from the past. I spent time scanning old photos, sorting through memories and making sure those moments were saved.

It’s funny how life works. Some days you are busy making new memories.

Other days you are looking back at the ones that brought you here.

Just Enjoying the Season

August wasn’t about chasing a big goal or checking something off a list.

It was about enjoying the season I was in.

Cooking.

Kayaking.

Friends.

Home.

The little things that fill in the spaces between the bigger adventures.

And sometimes, those are the moments that make a season special.
