A Quiet Kind of February

Not every month needs a big adventure.

Sometimes the best seasons are the ones where you’re just building, learning, and enjoying the life that’s already happening around you.

I’m still trying to find new places close to home whenever I can.

Back in January, I made it out to J. Rieger & Co. — a Kansas City distillery with a lot of history behind it. Good drinks, a great atmosphere, and definitely worth the trip.

I love that even when I don’t have a big road trip planned, there are still places nearby waiting to be explored.

And then February 5th happened.

The Chiefs won the Super Bowl.

For the first time in 50 years.

And Kansas City celebrated.

Downtown was packed. People were everywhere. The energy was something you could feel before you even got close.

If you were there, you know.

If you weren’t, just know it was exactly the kind of celebration this city had been waiting for.

Shifting Focus: Strength and Nutrition

Running isn’t going anywhere — that’s still a big part of my life.

But lately, I’ve been putting more focus into getting stronger.

I’ve started doing HIIT training classes with my daughter, and I’m enjoying the challenge of working different muscles and pushing myself in a new way.

I’ve also been trying to be more intentional about food.

Meal prepping.

Planning ahead.

Making better choices instead of just grabbing whatever is easiest when I’m busy.

Nothing dramatic.

Just paying more attention.

Bandit Update

And then there’s Bandit.

He’s getting big.

Really big.

I pulled out the same toy I used for his growth comparison back in October, and this was the third picture in the series.

Every time I think he has to be done growing, he proves me wrong.

It’s hard to believe this little puppy who came home in September has already changed so much.

That’s It for Now

No big trips planned.

No races on the calendar at the moment.

Just running, lifting, cooking, working on the house, and watching a puppy grow way faster than I expected.

And honestly?

Sometimes that’s enough.
