Making the RV Mine

After the Missouri trip, the RV came home with a full tank of new memories — and a long list of small projects I’d been meaning to tackle.

This wasn’t about fixing a broken RV.

It was about making the RV feel like mine.

After months of traveling in it, I had a better idea of what worked, what didn’t, and what changes would make the space more comfortable when I was on the road.

A Small Fix First

It started small.

The cover on the bathroom vent had cracked, so that was the first project I tackled.

A quick replacement, and it was done — but it also got me looking around at everything else I’d been wanting to change.

The Kitchen Backsplash

The kitchen was next.

I removed the old backsplash, pulled out the tools, and spent a few days living with a kitchen that was very much under construction — supplies everywhere, project materials covering the counters, and a space that was definitely not ready for normal cooking.

When it was finished, it finally felt like a kitchen I had chosen, not just one that came with the RV.

New Windows, New Feel

The living and dining area got my favorite transformation. Out went the old valances and mini blinds. In came curtains and sheers.

They were simple changes, but they completely changed the light and feel of the space.

Small details can make a space feel like home instead of just a vehicle.

A Little Halloween Creativity, Too

Somewhere in the middle of all the RV projects — tools out, things taken apart, and the RV in various stages of change — I was also working on another project.

I made my own piñata costume that year, because apparently remodeling an RV wasn’t enough of a creative project.

It was a completely different kind of project, but it came from the same place. I enjoy creating things. Taking an idea and turning it into something real.

Ready for the Next Trip

Now that everything is finished, the RV isn’t just something I travel in. It is starting to feel more like mine.

Every space reflects choices I made — not just what came with it when I bought it.

And it is finished just in time. The next adventure is already on the calendar.
