The RV Came Home — But Not Without One More Surprise
It’s been a couple of months since I left the RV in Chattanooga. While it waited on parts and repairs, life kept moving.
We celebrated Christmas, squeezed in a few Chiefs games, and rocked out at a Jackyl concert.

But eventually, the call finally came… the RV was ready. It was time to head back and pick it up.

This time, I wasn’t making the trip alone. My boyfriend, Chris, came with me for the adventure.
The plan was simple: Pick up the RV. Spend a little time exploring Chattanooga. Bring it home.
After everything that happened on the way to Florida in November, I was ready for a smooth trip.
Of course… The RV had other ideas.
Back to Chattanooga
Chris and I headed back to Chattanooga to pick up the RV.
After weeks of waiting, it was exciting to finally see it sitting there — repaired and ready to go.

Since we were already there, we decided to enjoy a little more time exploring Chattanooga.
I had discovered some beautiful places during my unexpected weekend there in November, and this time I got to share them with Chris.
We visited Point Park atop Lookout Mountain, walked through part of the Chickamauga battlefield, and even stopped by Raccoon Mountain Caverns.

We enjoyed great meals in the RV — one of the things I love about RV travel is being able to have a little piece of home with us wherever we go.
Finally, it felt like we were ready to head home.

One More RV Surprise
After weeks of waiting, we were finally headed home.
The plan was to take our time, make our way north, and spend the night in the RV near Paducah.
For a little while, it felt like my RV adventures were back on track.
Thankfully, I had made it through the mountain passes without another issue. I thought I was finally in the clear… until somewhere along I-24 near Oak Grove, Kentucky, the RV reminded us that it wasn’t quite finished surprising us yet.
The hitch on the back of the RV broke loose from the weld on one side.
I was able to get pulled over safely. The Jeep was still attached, but everything was sitting unevenly, and we knew we couldn’t continue that way.
Chris was able to disconnect the hitch, which allowed us to separate the vehicles and keep going. He drove the Jeep, I drove the RV, and we made our way to Paducah for the night.
Once again, the plan changed.
Once again, we adapted.

At this point, I was starting to think the RV might have a little bit of a personality of its own.
But even with another unexpected detour, we made it home safely.
And honestly, that’s what matters most.
The Right Person for the Adventure
Even though this trip didn’t go exactly as planned, it was fun having Chris along for the adventure.

Travel has a way of showing you a lot about a person — especially when things don’t go according to plan.
There were problems to solve, unexpected moments, and plenty of reasons to be frustrated.
But there was also laughter, exploring, and making memories along the way.
The RV may have continued testing my patience…
but at least this time, I didn’t have to figure it all out alone.
Sometimes the best adventures aren’t the ones where everything goes perfectly.
Sometimes they are the ones where you have the right person beside you when things don’t.
