Making the Most of Home
Life looks a little different right now.
The calendar is quieter. The usual weekends away, races, and bigger adventures aren’t happening the way they normally do.
So I’m finding new ways to enjoy the days I have.
And honestly, there is something nice about slowing down a little.
Making Home Better
With a little extra time at home, I’ve been working on some of the things that have been waiting for my attention.
The back porch got some updates. The front gardens got cleaned up. The garage is slowly becoming a little more organized.

None of it is a huge project.
But there is something satisfying about looking around and seeing progress — even if it is just small improvements that make everyday life a little better.
Growing Something Again
I’ve also started a small container garden on the deck.

When my kids were little, I had a small garden. Nothing big — just enough to plant a few things, watch them grow, and enjoy having something fresh right outside.
Then life got busy, and somewhere along the way that faded into the background.
Now I’m trying it again. A few herbs. Some flowers. A little bit of green space right outside the door.
It isn’t anything impressive, but I like having something to take care of.
Something that changes a little every day.
More Time in the Kitchen
I’ve also been spending more time cooking.
Meal prep has become part of my routine. Instead of figuring out dinner every night, I’m planning ahead and making the week easier.
I’ve been experimenting more too. I smoked a pork roast, and it turned out pretty amazing.

Apparently, having more time at home makes me want to try new things in the kitchen.
Finding Adventure Close to Home
Even with travel looking different right now, I am still finding ways to get outside.

There have been hikes. Fishing trips. Lake days. Beautiful sunsets.
And plenty of time with Bandit. Of course, Bandit thinks this whole situation is pretty great.
More time with me. More walks. More opportunities to explore.
He doesn’t know anything is different. He just knows every day is another chance for an adventure.
A Little Bit of Normal

And then, on June 5th, we finally got to do something that had been missing for a while.
Bowling.
It was our first tournament back, and things definitely looked different.
Masks. Extra precautions. A little less of the usual “everything is normal” feeling.
But we were back together, doing something we love.
And honestly, that felt pretty good.
A Different Kind of Season

This isn’t the year I expected. But right now, I’m focusing on the things that are right in front of me.
Taking care of my home. Taking care of myself.
Spending time outside. Learning new things.
Finding joy in the everyday moments.
Sometimes making the most of life doesn’t mean going somewhere new.
Sometimes it means appreciating where you already are.
