I Wasn’t Looking for a Business

In March, I mentioned that a curiosity I had been carrying since January had turned into something unexpected. What I didn’t share yet was the story behind it.

Because the truth is, I wasn’t looking for a business. I wasn’t searching for a side hustle. I wasn’t trying to start something new. It started with a simple question:

Could I make better choices about the things I used in my home?

Asking Better Questions

Earlier that year, I had started paying more attention to the products I used every day.

What was actually in them? Were there simpler options?

Could I find ways to clean and care for my home that aligned better with the way I was already trying to live?

I started reading, comparing, and looking at products I had used for years in a completely different way.

That curiosity led me to Norwex.

At first, I was simply interested in learning more. I wanted to understand the products and see if they made sense for my own home.

The more I learned, the more interested I became.

Not because I was looking for something new to do — but because I was finding answers to questions I had already started asking.

A New Chapter I Never Expected

In early March, I ordered my starter kit.

Norwex sample packets and starter materials laid out for a launch party

In the days before my party, I put together little sample packets to send out to everyone who planned to join.

With everything happening in the world, I decided to host my launch party online instead of in person — a very 2020 version of trying something new.

A little over a week later, I held my launch party.

It ended up bringing in around $750 in sales, which meant that — thanks to Norwex’s hostess rewards — everything on my own table came free.

Honestly, that rewards program was one of the things that first caught my attention. I loved that the people hosting parties were taken care of, too.

A few days later, I recorded a quick video sharing my hostess rewards and talking about what I had learned so far.

The timing was definitely not what I expected.

Within days, the world around us began to change, and gatherings, travel, and everyday routines all started looking very different.

More Than Cleaning Products

What interested me most was never just the products themselves.

It was the idea behind them.

Being more intentional.

Looking closer at what we bring into our homes.

Finding simple changes that make sense.

At the time, I thought I was simply finding better options for my own home.

I didn’t realize yet where that curiosity would lead.

But this was the beginning of a new way of looking at the things I used every day — and one of the first steps toward the Simplify side of Deb’s Best Life.

Looking Back

I was simply trying to find better answers for my own home.

Sometimes the biggest changes start with a small question.

Sometimes you just have to be curious enough to follow where it leads.
